The email above sums up what we did in Bali last year. It is from Pak Gede, a multitasking person if u ask me. He is the tour guide, the driver & the photographer (he help snaps photos of the two of us & the quality improves by the end of our trip). Although he has moderate English proficiency, we can still understand his explanation coz he knows what he talks about. My father & my aunty recommend him coz he is nice & negotiable & the tours are quite cheap. However, she suggests that we chose a better hotel for our honeymoon. But in the end, due to our budget & our packed tour itenary, we just stayed at the same hotel my aunt did. The room was quite ok though but don’t expect a 5 star treatment. The pool looks great but we didn’t get the chance to swim during our stay L

I know.. u ols must be thinking that we’re crazy for taking the night flight to arrive at a new place. my father went berserk when he found out about it. but the damage is done. since it was a last minute decision to have a vacation, we bought the Airasia tickets coz its cheap (total about RM1200++ coz no promo) & being a traveler amateur at that time, we were oblivious to the risks of travelling to somewhere we’ve never been to. Fortunately, there’s no flight delay. Alhamdulillah...

I can’t recall if this is the 1st or 2nd time we travel to another country as hubbee & wifey.hee... (the other trip was the 1st time me & hubbee went to Singapore as a married couple. I’ll try to update the catch of that story in another entry).hahaa..

Anyway, these are just a small part of things u can do in Bali. There’s a lot more to explore in Bali if u have the time. They have tourist attractions in north, south, east & west of Bali. It’s as if every citizen of Bali were educated in tourism. Each one of them has different roles in different kind of fields. From dancers, musicians, smiths, artiste, coffee makers, farmers & to waiters, they are all definitely trained to entertain. But be careful when approached by individual sellers coz they can be a bit forceful sometimes & followed u all along the way to your car.

What we missed & should try next time:
1.  Kecak Dance in Uluwatu (I loved watching traditional dance sometimes. But this would definitely bore my hubbee.hahaa..)
2.  Tanjung Benoa (Since water activity is time consuming, we decided to window shopping at Hard Rock & walk along the nearby beach. We also shop some souvenirs for family & close friends at Krishna – lebih kurang mydin kot.eh ye ke?hee...)

Trip’s highlight:
1.  Surfers’ Paradise (from the waves to products like billabong, roxy, quiksilver etc. Bali is definitely a heaven for surfers. we’re no surfer but we do splurge on some of the brands.hee..)
2.  Unique Home Deco stuff (lots to choose from the smallest deco to be put on a table to the biggest furniture u can find. kalau tak ingat mcm mne nak angkut brg2 bwk blk mmg dh borong dh.hahaa.. we just bought a big painting coz its cheap after we bargain & it’s easy to carry in the plane. we can just frame it in Malaysia)

Trip’s downside:
The food is not as we anticipated. Pak Gede said the Balinese are not really creative when it comes to food. To get the best of Indonesian food u’ll have to go to Jakarta or Bandung. Honestly, I personally feel that our seafood in Umbai, Melaka is way better than their dry, over rated seafood in Jimbaran. In addition to that, we were traumatized to find pork satay served in the restaurant in Kintamani. Pak Gede assured us that he’ll bring us to Halal restaurant but he did warn us that it’s hard to find one in Kintamani. Initially we thought that place is pork free so we thought we could at least eat rice with eggs, seafood & veggies from the buffet. We became more convinced when another Indonesian Muslim family came to have lunch there too. Then my hubbee found out about the satay from the waiter & we immediately stop eating. unfortunately, we didn’t get to warn the other family. one of their younger children had mistaken it for chicken satay & ate a few sticks already (Ya Allah Ya Ampun..rasa bersalah sangat sebab take things for granted  & tak lebih berhati2 (kat Malaysia kan merata2 makanan halal).. rasa bersalah juga terhadap budak & family tu sebab tak sempat warn). Lesson learned! Now we tried to be more careful when choosing a place to dine out.
